Who knew a couple of college internships at bed and breakfasts twenty-something years ago would be a catalyst for a career change when we became disenchanted with corporate life? Fueled by our faith, on a mission to offer delicious breakfasts using locally sourced ingredients, and believing the best community happens around a meal at the table, we jumped into innkeeper life and haven't looked back!

After being away for 15 years pursuing careers in Landscape Design/Build (Dan) and Marketing/Business (Jen), we’re back in the Mitten State with our young sons by our sides at The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast, where we’re happiest catching-up with guests, testing new brunch recipes and experiencing all that life along the West Coast of Michigan has to offer.

Dan's expertise in project management and sales coupled with his landscape architecture background and Jen's marketing experience, and years of baking and hospitality experience make them a great team. Our young boys know no other way of life and think it's perfectly normal to see new faces come and go (we're also pretty sure they're into this lifestyle for the fresh-baked cookies that magically appear every afternoon)!

As the fourth owners of the B&B, we're honored to call this elegant old Victorian our home. We've spent hours restoring the original floors and updating rooms to honor this beauty's 1890s heritage while making a point to create a casual and inviting environment with modern touches. We remember what the stress of corporate life feels like, so we've made it our goal to create a peaceful, inviting space that leaves you feeling relaxed - like you escaped the everyday grind.
