Finding Your Way to Ludington
Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, our inn is a scenic drive from several major hubs. Whether you’re traveling through the orchards of the north or the rolling farmland of West Michigan, we look forward to welcoming you to the coast.
From the Grand Rapids Area (Approx. 1.5 hours)
Take US-131 North toward Cadillac. Merge onto I-196 West/US-31 North toward Muskegon. Continue following US-31 North directly into Ludington. As you enter town, US-31 becomes Ludington Avenue, which will lead you straight toward the lake and our front door.
From the Detroit & Southeast Michigan Area (Approx. 3.5 to 4 hours)
Follow I-96 West through Lansing and toward Grand Rapids. Merge onto US-31 North toward Muskegon and continue North until you reach Ludington. This route takes you through the heart of the West Michigan lakeshore.
From Traverse City & Northern Michigan (Approx. 1.5 to 2 hours)
Take US-31 South through Benzonia and Manistee. Enjoy the views of the orchards and shoreline as you head south into Mason County. Follow the signs for Downtown Ludington, which will bring you onto Ludington Avenue.
The Scenic Route:
For a slower, more picturesque drive, take M-22 South from the Traverse City area. This winding coastal highway follows the Lake Michigan shoreline through charming lake towns and offers beautiful views of the dunes and Lake Michigan before reconnecting with US-31 in Arcadia or Onekama. It adds a bit of time to your trip, but the scenery is well worth the detour!

The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast is located on Ludington Avenue, just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants of downtown and a short drive from the beach.
