Reservation & House Policies

The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast

To receive our Best Available Rate at any time of year, we recommend booking directly with us via our website, or over the phone. While we often require 2-night minimum stays during the “peak season” of May-September, or during local special events, we’ll occasionally make exceptions. Call us, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your travel schedule!

Whole House Rentals as well as Corporate / Business Travel rates and discounts are available. Please call us at (231) 843-9792 to discuss arrangements and reserve your stay.

Deposits

If your reservation comes to us by way of an OTA (Online Travel Agent/Agency ), to secure your stay at the inn, we will collect a deposit at the time of booking. This includes your room rate, applicable taxes, and any selected upgrades.

  • One-Night Stay: Full deposit is taken at the time of booking.
  • Two or More Nights: A 50% deposit is taken at the time of booking.
  • Whole House Rental: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the entire inn.

Arrival & Departure

We look forward to greeting you between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM on your arrival day. Check-out is by 11:00 AM on your date of departure.

If your travels prevent you from arriving during our standard check-in window, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements for your welcome. For those arriving via the S.S. Badger, please note your late arrival in the "Car Ferry" box during the reservation process. While we do our best to accommodate early arrivals or late departures between May and October, we appreciate your understanding that we may not always be able to do so.

SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT

To ensure a fresh and comfortable stay for everyone and to protect our historic property, The Lamplighter Bed & Breakfast maintains a completely smoke-free environment. This includes all guest rooms, the inn’s interior, our patio, gazebo, and gardens.

Our smoke-free policy applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes (vaping), and marijuana in any form. For guests who wish to smoke or vape, we provide a designated area in our private parking lot. Please note that a $500 cleaning fee will be assessed if smoking occurs anywhere else on the property. We appreciate your help in keeping the inn a pleasant space for all our guests.

Children & Pets

We adore children and are happy to welcome well-behaved guests aged seven and older. For whole-house rentals, children of all ages are welcome—please contact us directly for more information.

While we are animal lovers ourselves, we are unable to accommodate guest pets at the inn to ensure the comfort of all our visitors. We are happy to help you make arrangements at a local boarding facility nearby.

Alcohol & Personal Conduct

Responsible use of alcohol is welcome on our premises. We ask that all guests remain mindful of the historic nature of the home and the comfort of others staying at the inn.

Cancellations

Every reservation is special to us. We take great care in preparing for your stay—from preparing your room to tailoring a breakfast menu to your dietary needs. Because we are a small, family-operated inn, cancellations affect us significantly.

  • Standard Reservations: If your plans change, please notify us at least seven (7) days prior to your check-in date, and we will refund your deposit. Cancellations made within seven days of your arrival may result in a forfeiture of the deposit.

Group & Whole House Bookings: Reservations for three or more rooms, as well as whole-house bookings, require a 30-day cancellation notice. Please remember that the 50% deposit for whole-house rentals is non-refundable.
